Editor's note: Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park covers nearly 16,000 mu (1,066 hectares) in southern Beijing's Fengtai district. Since opening to the public in October 2021, the park has developed an extensive wetland ecosystem featuring the winding Xiaolong River, scattered lakes and diverse wildlife.
A massive viewing platform opened in May 2024, providing a commanding view of the soothing scenery against the backdrop of the bustling city in the distance. During winter, the park transforms as its lush greenery gives way to muted golden hues.
