Family Guide to Prevent Pneumonia Caused by the Novel Coronavirus
The pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus is a new disease. The general public should better protect themselves against this epidemic. In order to help international friends to acquire relevant knowledge of prevention, Hubei Provincial Foreign Affairs Office has compiled and translated this guide into multiple languages according to the Public Prevention Guide provided by the National Health Commission. The following is the Family Guide to Prevent Pneumonia Caused by the Novel Coronavirus. The guide applies to people who live in homes.
I. Daily prevention tips
1. Avoid visiting areas where the disease is prevalent.
2. Try to avoid visits to crowded public places, especially places of poor ventilation, such as public bathrooms, hot springs, cinemas, internet bars, Karaokes, shopping malls, bus/train stations, airports, ferry terminals and exhibition centers, etc.
3. Do not touch, buy or eat wild animals (gamey). Avoid visiting markets that sell such live animals as birds, seafood, and wild animals. Cook eggs and meat thoroughly before consumption.
4. Keep your home clean and open windows frequently for better ventilation.
5. Maintain hand hygiene. Avoid touching public objects and facilities. After returning from public places, covering your cough, using the restroom, and before meals, wash your hands with soap or liquid soap under running water, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes when you are unsure whether your hands are clean or not. Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow when sneezing or coughing.
6. Wear a mask when going out. A surgical or N95 mask shall be worn when you visit public places, go to the hospital or take public transportation.
7. Keep good personal hygiene and health habits. Do not share towels with your household members. Keep your home and tableware clean. Sun-cure your clothes and quilts often. Do not spit. Wrap your oral and nasal secretion with tissue and throw it in a covered dustbin. Balance your nutrition and exercise moderately.
8. Monitor the health conditions of you and your household members. Measure your temperatures when you feel like having a fever. If you have kid(s) at home, touch the kid’s forehead in the morning and at night. Measure the kid’s temperature in case of fever.
9. Keep necessary medical supplies on hand. Prepare thermometer, surgical or N95 masks, and domestic disinfectant at home.
II. Suggestions to household members of a person with suspicious symptoms
1. Seek prompt medical attention in case of the suspicious symptoms relating to the pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus. Such symptoms include fever, cough, pharyngalgia, chest distress, dyspnea, mildly poor appetite, fatigue, mild lethargy, nausea, diarrhea, headache, palpitation, conjunctivitis, and mildly sore limb or back muscles, etc.
2. Try to avoid taking the metro, bus and other public transportation and avoid crowded places.
3. Tell the doctor your travel and residence history in epidemic areas, and who you met after you started to have the condition. Cooperate with your doctor on the relevant queries.
4. Asymptomatic members should wear facemask, keep distance from and avoid close contact with the infected ones.
5. When one has been diagnosed with pneumonia caused by 2019-nCoV, his or her household members, if identified as close contacts, should be under medical quarantine for 14 consecutive days.
6. Sterilize places where one with suspicious symptoms stays and objects he or she frequently touches.
新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎是一種新發疾病，公眾應切實加強預防。為幫助外國人了解掌握相關預防知識，湖北省人民政府外事辦公室根據國家衛健委發布的公眾預防指南，整理出多語種防護手冊，本期發布《新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎家庭預防指南》，適用于家庭場所，供參考。
一、日常預防
（一）避免去疾病正在流行的地區。
（二）減少到人員密集的公共場所活動，尤其是空氣流動性差的地方，例如公共浴池、溫泉、影院、網吧、KTV、商場、車站、機場、碼頭、展覽館等。
（三）不要接觸、購買和食用野生動物（即野味），避免前往售賣活體動物（禽類、海產品、野生動物等）的市場，禽肉蛋要充分煮熟后食用。
（四）居室保持清潔，勤開窗，經常通風。
（五）隨時保持手衛生。減少接觸公共場所的公共物品和部位；從公共場所返回、咳嗽用手捂之后、飯前便后，用洗手液或香皂流水洗手，或者使用含酒精成分的免洗洗手液；不確定手是否清潔時，避免用手接觸口鼻眼；打噴嚏或咳嗽時用手肘衣服遮住口鼻。
（六）外出佩戴口罩。外出前往公共場所、就醫和乘坐公共交通工具時，應佩戴醫用外科口罩或N95口罩。
（七）保持良好衛生和健康習慣。家庭成員不共用毛巾，保持家居、餐具清潔，勤曬衣被。不隨地吐痰，口鼻分泌物用紙巾包好，棄置于有蓋垃圾箱內。注意營養，勤運動。
（八）主動做好個人及家庭成員的健康監測。自覺發熱時要主動測量體溫。家中有小孩的，要早晚摸小孩的額頭，如有發熱要為其測量體溫。
（九）準備常用物資。家庭備置體溫計、一次性口罩、家庭用的消毒用品等物資。
二、家庭成員出現可疑癥狀時的建議
（一）若出現新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎可疑癥狀（如發熱、咳嗽、咽痛、胸悶、呼吸困難、輕度納差、乏力、精神稍差、惡心嘔吐、腹瀉、頭痛、心慌、結膜炎、輕度四肢或腰背部肌肉酸痛等癥狀），應根據病情及時就醫。
（二）避免乘坐地鐵、公共汽車等公共交通工具，避免前往人群密集的場所。
（三）就診時應主動告訴醫生自己的相關疾病流行地區的旅行居住史，以及發病后接觸過什么人，配合醫生開展相關調查。
（四）患者的家庭成員應佩戴口罩，與無癥狀的其他家庭成員保持距離，避免近距離接觸。
（五）若家庭中有人被診斷為新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎，其他家庭成員如果經判定為密切接觸者，應接受14天醫學觀察。
（六）對有癥狀的家庭成員經常接觸的地方和物品進行消毒。
