This dagoba was built inside Xilitu Temple in Shitou Lane downtown in old Hohhot.
The White Marble Dagoba, at the southeastern corner of the temple, was constructed during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The fifteen-meter- high structure was made entirely of white marble. The main body of the dagoba is in the form of an inverted bowl. The stone pedestal underneath is embellished with exquisite carvings. Meriting especial attention are four stone columns with carved dragons twining around them supporting the four corners of the pedestal, rarely seen in Lamaist buildings. Between the inverted-bowl main body and the pedestal are four terraces. On top of the dagoba is a thirteen-tier steeple crowned by a canopy, a crescent and a precious bead. The whole body of the dagoba is covered with ornamental carvings and patterns painted in bright colors. It is one of the largest and most beautiful dagobas of its kind in the country.
