Against the backdrop of the global financial crisis and the volatile international situation, it is in the interests of the two peoples and helpful for peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region and the whole world that both countries further promote their cooperative level on various bilateral and global issues.

The dialogue mechanism provides an important platform for both sides to further expand their communication and cooperation.
China and the United States, as the world's biggest developing and developed countries, share broader common interests and a cooperation foundation, and thus shoulder more important common responsibilities amid the current financial crisis.
In the dialogue, both sides made a positive evaluation of the bilateral ties, underlined the role of close high-level contacts and exchanges, agreed to expand military exchanges at various levels, and encouraged cultural exchanges and cooperation.
