The subtle and delicate fragrance of blooming cherry flowers has attracted crowds to the Yinghua Valley in Shahe, a suburban town of Guangyuan city since early March.

The lively scene of flowering cherries among farmer’s houses and verdant hills was featured on China Central Television on March 3 to highlight vibrant spring sceneries across the country .

The cherry trees in the town are said to originate some 1,700 years ago during Shu Dynasty (221-263) of the Three Kingdoms period, when Shahe was an important post on the ancient road system linking to the outside from central Sichuan.

Now cherry trees are planted across the valley, making breathtaking views through March and offering fresh cherry fruits at the end of April each year.
